What is agentic automation?
Agentic automation uses one or more agentic AIs to automate tasks and workflows, reducing manual coordination across systems. This type of intelligent automation can reason, plan, and act towards goals largely independent of human intervention. Organizations use AI agents trained in natural language processing to automate complex business processes like IT operations, content generation, data analysis, customer support, and learning & development.
Example: We implement agentic automation in our onboarding process to automatically check onboarding status, generate tailored learning content, and send reminders to learners about incomplete courses.
Though similar to robotic process automation (RPA), agentic automation is adaptive, whereas RPA is rules-based.
What are the benefits of agentic automation?
Implementing agentic automation allows organizations to automate complex tasks that would normally take time and attention. It can personalize learning at scale by sending learners content relevant to their role, proactively adjusting content based on real-time skill gaps, and providing just-in-time learning within a natural workflow.
Agentic process automation also significantly lowers administrative costs for teams by automating repetitive tasks like course enrollment, reminders, updates, and performance tracking. Automating these common but time-consuming processes frees training teams to focus on strategic and analytical thinking.
