The Challenge
Alexion creates online GxP compliance training to reach its global workforce
Training plays an integral role in Alexion’s work, empowering employees across global teams with crucial updates and knowledge. Compliance is a critical training area to ensure staff policy and procedural alignment at the biotechnology research company.
Vanessa Aller, Senior Learning and Development Specialist, works on the operations side of the organization, where she focuses on GxP compliance—a specific set of quality guidelines and regulations in the pharmaceutical industry. With online learning tools, her team can create engaging, timely, and flexible training to establish standards of quality and consistency across the global workforce.
“With e-learning, you can standardize information that leads to better quality across the organization,” says Aller, noting that in biopharma, this quality of information is crucial for both patient outcomes and opportunities to produce more lifesaving products for the market.
The Answer
With Articulate 360 AI, Alexion creates quality, interactive software training in half the time
Aller uses Articulate 360, including Storyline, Rise, AI Assistant, and Localization, to create online training. “Articulate 360’s tools are so easy to adopt, and also really flexible, so you can do a lot with them in a really short period of time,” she says.
With Articulate 360, Aller’s team can combine multiple training modalities into a single course, including video, text, and images. This is particularly helpful for software training. With Articulate, they can embed simulations, labeled graphics, and other interactive blocks into courses. This allows staff to easily apply the knowledge they’ve learned.
“It has had some really good feedback,” says Aller of the software training she creates with Articulate 360.
Aller finds that having AI built right into Articulate 360 saves her significant time. Toggling between external AI tools, then copy and pasting into course authoring software, is time consuming and increases the risk of manual errors. The integrated AI in Articulate 360’s platform, says Aller, speeds up the process exponentially.
“By leveraging AI, I have been able to cut the production and development in almost half,” she says. Previously, developing a course took her approximately 8 hours—but with AI Assistant, the process only takes her 4–5 hours.
Aller finds that AI Assistant’s high-quality output helps both speed and quality. “[AI Assistant] allows me to draft content quickly without having to do so many revisions,” she says.
She also uses Articulate AI to create relevant course images. “I’ve tried to develop images using external tools, and I don’t really get the output that I want,” she says. “But if you use the AI that is embedded into Articulate Rise, the images are actually of better quality, and better reflect my prompt.”
Unlocking Human Potential
With Localization, Alexion creates training in its global learners’ native languages
Beyond its ability to create high-quality, interactive courses, Alexion appreciates Articulate’s built-in localization capabilities. Aller notes that localizing content helps preserve key cultural nuances that make learning more relevant and effective.
Alexion prioritizes creating outstanding learning experiences in multiple languages for its team members worldwide. “In addition to enabling Localization, we also leverage subject matter experts that can review the content for accuracy, making sure that our content is really relevant to the cultural region,” says Aller.
“As an immigrant myself and speaker of three languages, it is important to me to see content in my native language,” says Aller. “You can connect better to it, and you learn better when your content is in your native language.”
Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease creates interactive, high-quality training for a global audience with Articulate 360 AI and Localization.
Articulate 360’s tools are so easy to adopt, and also really flexible, so you can do a lot with them in a really short period of time.
