“Training is one of the largest ways that we offer support to organizations,” says Rebecca Gentry-Thompson, Senior Product Manager at Humentum. 

Before InsideNGO, LINGOs, and Mango merged in 2017, most training took place in person. When the pandemic hit, Humentum had only begun to experiment with online learning when it suddenly needed to scale and move everything online quickly.

With access to a library of Rise courses already built by LINGOs, the team saw firsthand how efficient and repeatable it was to create online learning with Articulate 360. They quickly expanded their use of the platform to support a wide range of client needs. “Now, thanks to Articulate, we deliver the majority of our training online,” says Gentry-Thompson. 

Today, Humentum offers online learning for every stage of professional growth, from entry-level positions to C-suite leaders and board members. The content reaches teams across client organizations, from project management to finance and more, and is delivered in multiple formats, including webinars, self-led Rise for members, and facilitated Rise courses.

“When I stepped into this role, the team was already using Articulate 360,” says Gentry-Thompson. “Now I’m the one who decides whether we continue, and I choose Articulate year after year. It brings value in so many different ways.”

Using Articulate allows Humentum’s team to collaborate seamlessly with subject matter experts and produce a large volume of online training. New facilitated courses are launched each year, and members can access hundreds of self-paced courses whenever they need them.

Because the team manages such a large course catalog, ease-of-use is essential. Articulate allows Gentry-Thompson and her colleagues to work quickly without sacrificing quality. “We have LMSes and CMSes that require training to navigate and operate,” she says. “But Articulate makes it easy for anyone to start creating content right away.”

Rise’s clean, intuitive design also plays an important role in learner success. “Visual design has a huge impact on engagement and understanding, especially in self-directed courses,” she says. “Rise allows us to present information in a clear, structured way that helps learners absorb content more effectively and allows us to deliver courses much faster.”

As a global organization, Humentum also values Articulate 360’s multilingual support. “We’re not just providing training in English. We work across languages and cultures,” says Gentry-Thompson. “Articulate’s built-in language support helps us reach learners wherever they are.” 

Humentum’s self-led courses for members, built in Rise, are available in multiple languages, including English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic. “With Articulate 360, we can easily duplicate course modules, switch the module language, and see built-in navigation in the correct language,” says Gentry-Thomspon. “That makes it easy for us to provide our learners with the same experience, no matter what language they speak.” Plus, because Articulate 360 is well-known globally, translators are familiar and comfortable working within it.

Among Humentum’s most popular offerings is its Project Management for Development Professional (Dpro) course, which prepares learners to pass the globally recognized Project DPro Exam. Another standout is the Investigator Qualification Training Scheme (IQTS) training, a set of courses that provide participants with the tools and knowledge to become certified investigators into allegations of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment. 

Both courses, built in Rise, cover a substantial amount of content in a format that feels digestible and approachable. This structure drives impressive certification rates—in the past nine months, completion rates have reached 90 percent.

“These certification courses are vital,” says Gentry-Thompson. “Articulate allows us to create learning environments that set our learners up for success in this crucial work.”
