If the Articulate tab on your PowerPoint ribbon is missing or some of the Articulate Presenter '09 options aren't working, one or both of the Articulate add-ins may be disabled in PowerPoint. Follow the steps below for your version of PowerPoint to correct it.

Note: You'll need administrative privileges to enable inactive add-ins. You may need to ask your IT staff for assistance.

PowerPoint 2010

Be sure you have the 32-bit version of PowerPoint 2010 installed.  Articulate Presenter '09 is not supported in the 64-bit version of PowerPoint 2010.  For more information, see "Which version of Office 2010 should I install, 32-bit or 64-bit?"

  1. Click the File tab in the upper left corner.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Select the Add-Ins tab on the left side of the window that opens.
  4. From the Manage drop-down list at the bottom of the screen, select Disabled Items and click the Go button as shown in the image below: Disabled Items
  5. If anything is listed as being disabled (as shown in the image below), select it and click the Enable button.  (Repeat for all items that are disabled.) Disabled Items
  6. From the Manage drop-down list at the bottom of the screen, select COM Add-ins and click the Go button as shown in the image below: COM Add-ins
  7. Ensure that Articulate Presenter Communicator and Articulate Presenter Ribbon are checked (selected).
  8. Click the OK button.
  9. Restart PowerPoint.

Trust Center Settings

If your Articulate menu still is not visible or is not functioning after performing the steps above, you may need to verify your Trust Center Settings in PowerPoint 2010.  Here's how:

  1. Select the File tab.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Select the Trust Center tab.
  4. Click the Trust Center Settings button.
  5. Select the Add-ins tab.
  6. Ensure that the following check boxes are not checked:
    • "Require Application Add-ins to be signed by Trusted Publisher"
    • "Disable all Application Add-ins"
  7. Click the OK button to close the Trust Center.
  8. Click the OK button to close PowerPoint Options.
  9. Close PowerPoint altogether.
  10. Open PowerPoint again, and verify that your Articulate menu is visible and active.

PowerPoint 2007
  1. Click the Microsoft Office button (upper left hand corner).
  2. Select PowerPoint Options.
  3. Select Add-ins.
  4. From the Manage drop-down list at the bottom of the screen, select Disabled Items and click the Go button as shown in the image below: Disabled Items
  5. If anything is listed as being disabled (as shown in the image below), select it and click the Enable button.  (Repeat for all items that are disabled.) Disabled Items
  6. From the Manage drop-down list at the bottom of the screen, select COM Add-ins and click the Go button as shown in the image below: COM Add-ins
  7. Ensure that Articulate Presenter Communicator and Articulate Presenter Ribbon are checked (selected).
  8. Click the OK button.
  9. Restart PowerPoint.

Trust Center Settings

  1. Click the round Microsoft Office button in the upper left corner of PowerPoint.
  2. Click PowerPoint Options.
  3. Select the Trust Center tab.
  4. Click the Trust Center Settings button.
  5. Select the Add-ins tab.
  6. Ensure that the following check boxes are not checked:
    • "Require Application Add-ins to be signed by Trusted Publisher"
    • "Disable all Application Add-ins"
  7. Click the OK button to close the Trust Center.
  8. Click the OK button to close PowerPoint Options.
  9. Close PowerPoint altogether.
  10. Open PowerPoint again, and verify that your Articulate menu is visible and active.

PowerPoint 2002 and 2003
  1. Go to Help > About Microsoft PowerPoint > Disabled Items Disabled Items
  2. If anything appears in the Disabled Items list (as shown above), select and Enable it.
  3. Click Close.
  4. Restart PowerPoint.

If the above does not enable the Articulate menu, please check your Trusted Publisher settings by using the method below:

  1. Go to Tools > Options
  2. Click on the Macro Security button
  3. Select the Trust Publishers tab
  4. Checkmark Trust all installed add-ins and templates
