Why am I experiencing issues with audio I have recorded or imported via the Articulate menu?

If you are experiencing any audio issues with audio you have recorded via Articulate -> Record Narration or imported via Articulate -> Import Audio in Presenter 5.X there are several things you can do to make sure that your audio plays correctly.

  • If you are importing audio we recommend using 16 bit 44 KHZ PCM WAV files for best results. If your WAV file does not meet these guidelines you can convert your wav file using a free audio editing tool.
  • If you are importing MP3 files you should make sure that you are using flash-supported MP3 files. Importing MP3 files is not recommended because the MP3 file will ultimately be converted to WAV and then back to MP3. This can result in a loss of quality since the audio is being converted from a lossy format to a lossless format and then back again to a lossy format. You wind up with a 3rd generation MP3 file.
  • You can also try refreshing the contents of your narrations folder. Make sure you have Articulate Presenter 5.05 or later.: You can update to this version by going to Start -> All Programs -> Articulate -> Articulate Presenter 5.0 -> Check for updates (exact path may vary) and following the instructions you'll see.

If you are having difficulty upgrading using the Update Manager you can download the latest version using the link provided in your activation email.

    5) Go to Articulate -> Library and Options -> Quality
    6) Change the compression setting back to its original setting.
    7) Click Ok to close the window

Following this process will refresh the contents of your narrations folder.
