Build and scale training for a mobile-first, multilingual student population

LPU’s online department uses Articulate to develop the university’s training for students, faculty, and other departments. Apoorva Choudhary, Lead Learning Experience Designer, manages a team of course developers for university-level programs in an interdepartmental model that covers everything from student curriculum to internal faculty development. A single team fields training requests from across the institution. They face a constant operational challenge to deliver high-quality content quickly and at scale.

India’s student population presents two distinct design constraints. First, the majority of university-level learners learn on mobile phones, and desktop-first training experiences simply don’t reach them effectively. Second, LPU’s student body spans multiple languages and regions, which means multilingual course access isn’t optional, it’s a core requirement. 

The online department needed a development platform that could meet students where they are—on the devices they actually use, in the languages they actually speak—without dramatically increasing development time or headcount.

Adding to that complexity, LPU’s academic staff are content experts, not instructional designers. They supply raw PDFs and text, and it falls to Choudhary’s team to convert that material into engaging, interactive courses for students and faculty. The team needed tools that could make the conversion from text to course fast, consistent, and polished to make faculty feel proud to use the finished product.

Today, LPU uses Articulate as its training development workflow core. Rise is the team’s primary authoring tool, chosen specifically for its responsive design—it works on mobile without any additional configuration—which is essential for a student population that largely accesses content on their phones. “Rise is mobile accessible and easy for the students to interact with, so we use it at scale,” says Choudhary. Rise’s block-based structure is a practical solution for converting faculty-supplied PDFs and text into interactive, visually engaging training without a lengthy production cycle.

Articulate’s Review app supports the team’s quality and feedback loop, allowing assessors and subject matter experts to check courses before they go live. The team uses Reach to deliver assessments and track learner progress, giving them visibility into students’ engagement with content after it’s published.

Articulate’s AI and Localization features have become a key part of LPU’s approach to both content creation and accessibility. The team uses AI-generated images to improve their training’s visual quality and instructional clarity. AI-powered voiceovers make content more engaging and accessible for the university’s diverse learner population. And Localization allows the team to translate and adapt training into the languages their students prefer.

Translating courses into multiple languages has improved the learning experience for LPU’s student population. Faculty response to training built in Articulate has been equally strong. Academic staff give consistently positive feedback when they supply raw PDFs and text and see it transformed into polished, interactive courses. “The faculty has given great feedback that they’re proud of their product now,” says Choudhary.

Articulate has become so deeply embedded in LCU’s workflows that the university’s executive director specifically requests the platform after recent success with a faculty development program. “Our executive director has exclusively asked for Articulate training for our faculty, as she knows the value of the product,” says Choudhary.
