Curious to know how your learners answer individual questions in quizzes and surveys? When you publish a Storyline course for LMS, you have access to several question details. Select the LMS standards from the list below to see what each offers.

Note: To report question text to your LMS, publish for SCORM 2004, xAPI, or cmi5. SCORM 1.2 and AICC don't send question text to an LMS.

cmi5

Publishing to cmi5 is exclusive to Storyline 360.

Some LMSs, like SCORM Cloud, offer two options for viewing cmi5 quiz data details: xAPI and SCORM 2004 generated statements. Here's what each statement format sends to an LMS for quiz and survey questions:

xAPI Statement Format

  • id: An internationalized resource identifier (IRI) with a unique string of characters assigned by Storyline that your LMS uses to identify activities and interactions in a course
  • interactionType: The type of question (True/False, Multiple Choice, Multiple Response, etc)
  • timestamp: The time when the learner answered the question. This time measurement is in the ISO 8601 format required by the xAPI specification.
  • success: Whether the learner answered the question correctly or not
  • response: An IRI with a unique string of characters assigned by Storyline that your LMS uses to determine how the learner answered the question
  • duration: How long it took the learner to answer the question. This time measurement is in the ISO 8601 format required by the xAPI specification.
  • description: The question text

SCORM 2004 Format

  • id: Storyline sends a series of data to identify the Scene#, the QuestionDraw# (if applicable), and the Slide# in that particular scene or question draw.
  • type: The type of question (True/False, Multiple Choice, Multiple Response, etc)
  • timestamp: When the learner answered the question
  • student_response: How the learner answered the question
  • correct_response: The correct answer for the question
  • result: Whether the learner answered the question correctly or not
  • weighting: The weight is the point value assigned to a question when published with the December 2022 update of Storyline 360 or later.
  • latency: How long it took the learner to answer the question
  • description: The question text

  • success: Whether the learner answered the question correctly or not
  • response: An IRI with a unique string of characters assigned by Storyline that your LMS uses to determine how the learner answered the question
  • raw: The score the learner received for a graded question with assigned points, depending on if they answered the question correctly or not
  • duration: How long it took the learner to answer the question. This time measurement is in the ISO 8601 format required by the xAPI specification.

  • result: Whether the learner answered the question correctly or not
  • weighting: Storyline doesn't use this item in xAPI. It'll always be blank.
