After you are satisfied with your output settings, convert your video to Flash Video (.FLV) with your specified settings.

To publish to Flash Video in Video Encoder ’09:

  1. Click the Publish button on the toolbar (or select Publish via the Articulate Button).
  2. In the Publish dialog, specify the following options:
    • Publish Location: Type a folder location or click the ellipsis button (...) to locate a folder on your computer where you would like the published output to be saved.
    • Name: Specify a name for your published output.
    • Movie Dimensions:
      • Use the Presets drop-down menu to choose from the following options:
        • Large: Fits inside 480x360; 768kb bit rate; mono audio at 48kbps.
        • Medium: Fits inside 320x240; 512kb bit rate; mono audio at 48kbps.
        • Small: Fits inside 240x180; 256kb bit rate; mono audio at 48kbps.
      • Click the Customize link to launch the Custom Encoding dialog and specify the following settings via the drop-down menus:
        • Video:
          • Encoding Method: Choose from CBR, VBR (1 Pass), or VBR (2 Passes).
          • Bitrate: Choose a value ranging from 56 kbps to 1500 kbps.
          • Fit inside: Specify dimensions (in pixels) for your video.
          • Advanced Video:
            • Motion Estimation: Choose from Optimal or Deep.
            • Deinterlace: Choose from None, Even, Odd, or Auto.
            • Noise Reduction: Choose from None, Light, or Heavy.
            • Keyframe Period: Specify a value or use the up and down arrows.
            • Deblocking: Check the box to enable deblocking.
            • Smoothing: Check the box to enable smoothing.
        • Audio
          • Bitrate: Choose a value ranging from 8 kbps to 320 kbps.
          • Sample Rate: Choose a value ranging from 5 kbps to 44 kbps.
          • Channels: Choose from Mono or Stereo.
        • Profile name: Specify a name for your custom settings.
        • Click Save to save this profile, or Cancel to exit without saving.
  3. Click Batch Encoding if you wish to encode more than one movie using the same dimensions, audio and video bitrates, crop, volume, brightness, contrast and logo settings. Click Add Files to select more than one movie. You can Shift+Click or CTRL+Click to select more than one movie from within the same window.  [Video Tutorial]
  4. Click Publish to convert your video to Flash Video (.FLV).
  5. If you’ve previously published this video (or one of the same title to the same location), you’ll be prompted whether you want to overwrite the existing video or not. Click Yes to overwrite it, or No to cancel publishing.
  6. When conversion to .FLV is complete, you’ll see the following options in the Publish Success window:
    • View Flash Video: Click this button to view your published video in the stand-alone Articulate FLV Player, where you’ll see basic playback controls such as Play, Pause, a seekbar, and a volume control.
    • Open output folder: Click this link to open the folder on your computer containing the published .FLV file.
  7. Click Close when you are done, or to exit without choosing another option.
