If you're unable to activate your Articulate software, see the following solutions.

You never see a prompt to activate Articulate Presenter '09

If you don't see an activation prompt for Presenter when you open PowerPoint, follow the steps listed here.

Activate button is grayed out

If the Activate button is grayed out even after entering your serial number, verify that you're using the exact serial number found in your product confirmation email. We recommend copying and pasting the serial number into the activation form to avoid mistyping it.

Error: Invalid serial number

If you encounter an "invalid serial number" error message, click here.

Verify that your serial number is for the right product

Verify that you're using a serial number that corresponds to product you're trying to activate. Articulate serial numbers use the following format (where "X" represents either an upper-case letter or a number):

Product Serial Number Format
Articulate Storyline SL1-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Articulate Presenter '09 AP6-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Articulate Quizmaker '09 QM3-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Articulate Engage '09 EN2-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Articulate Video Encoder '09 VE1-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Articulate Presenter 5 Professional 5PXXXXX-XXX-XXXXXXXXXX
Articulate Presenter 5 Standard 5SXXXXX-XXX-XXXXXXXXXX
Articulate Quizmaker 2 2QXXXXX-XXX-XXXXXXXXXX
Articulate Engage 1 1EXXXXX-XXX-XXXXXXXXXX
Serial number and activation code are different things

If you're using manual activation, be aware that the serial number and the activation code aren't the same thing. First enter your serial number in the format shown above. Then enter the activation code that was sent to you. The activation code is a longer text string than the serial number.

Error: The activation code you entered is invalid

If you encounter an error message stating that "the activation code you entered is invalid," click here.
