How do I add a Camtasia movie into Engage?

Although there is no hard fixed rule on this, generally speaking you can embed all Camtasia content by importing the 'controller' swf of your Camtasia movie into Engage and then manually placing the rest of your published Camtasia movie at the same level as the engage.html of your published Engage interaction.

  1. First, take a look at your Camtasia files. For example, the below screenshot shows a folder containing all the Camtasia files for a movie entitled 'passivequiz'.

Notice the file called passivequiz_controller.swf. This is the file which will need to be referenced in Engage.

  2. Now create your interaction in Engage and add this .SWF using the 'Add Media' or 'Change Media' function. In the example below, we can see the Media Tour Interaction. Here, we are selecting the passivequiz_controller.swf within Engage.

  3. Assuming that you are publishing Engage to be viewed locally or on the Web, go to go to Publish -> Web and save your interaction locally, making note of where you have saved it. (Note that the procedure for inserting a Camtasia movie into Engage which will be embedded into Presenter is slightly different.)
  4. Finally, we have to manually move the remaining Camtasia files to the Engage interaction. Go to your Camtasia files and select and copy the remaining Camtasia files as shown below.

  5. Open your published Engage interaction and you will see two files, engage.html and engage.swf, and one folder, engage_content.

  6. Paste the remaining contents of your Camtasia movie at the same level as the engage.html file, giving you something like this:

Now you should be able to go back to the engage.html file and launch your Engage interaction with the Camtasia movie embedded within.
