Why can't I record using Record Narration in Articulate Presenter?

If you are having issues recording using Articulate -> Record Narration follow these steps to diagnose the issue:

  1. Confirm that your ppt file is located on your local drive.
  2. Confirm that the path to your PowerPoint file does not contain non-western characters.
  3. Are you able to record via PowerPoint -> Slide Show -> Record Narration? If not, then it's probably a hardware issue with your sound card or microphone. Check to make sure that your microphone is plugged in correctly and that your sound card is working. Consult your microphone or sound card's support to determine if you have the latest drivers installed and that the hardware is set up correctly on your machine.
  4. If you are using Windows Vista you may be using a microphone that is not fully compatible with Vista. Please refer to the Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List. A symptom you will see of a hardware issue in Windows Vista is to press Record and Presenter immediately stops recording.

You can also record audio using a 3rd party audio editing tool such as Audacity and then import the audio via Artiuclate -> Import Audio. We recommend importing 16 bit 44 KHZ PCM WAV files for best results.
