Default Camtasia and Articulate

I have produced an .SWF file in Camtasia and imported it into PP/Articulate using 'Import Flash File'. I selected for it to be shown in the main screen. When I do this the audio is fine but the screen is black - no video. Any ideas?!?!?!?

Thanks

You may have created your Camtasia movie with player controls. Can you turn them off and see if that works?

Another cause of this when using Camtasia 5 is to have published with their new ExpressShow template. This template is incompatible with Articulate Presenter. It is preferable to use the Legacy template. This article may be useful.

Thanks Guys,

This article explained things perfectly and I now have a Camtasi SWF working in Articulate. Now I just have to fiddle with the resolution to get it so that there aren't lines following my mouse movements of the SWF.

Thanks again.

Before you spend too much time on this I wanted to let you know that it is currently impossible with the current version to completely get rid of the lines following your mouse using the "standard" view mode. If you switch to a "no sidebar" mode for the slides with your camtasia movies you will have much better results.

See this post for a point of reference: Problems with Articulate and Camtasia

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your advice. I tried all the different slide view options and they all had the trailing. If I opened it in a new browser it is fine and no trailing evident no matter which resolution etc I pick. I'll just have to add a slide telling people that they will need to allow popups in order to view the videos - security!!!!

Have you tried changing any of your player template settings? I would recommend, under Articulate > Player Template Builder > Other, to set your Browser Size to "Resize browser to optimal size", and Presentation Size to "Lock presentation at optimal size".

Hi Brian,

That certainly works better for the 'No Sidebar' view. It took a bit of time working out the best place to position the flash on the slide so that it ended up in the centre of the presentation. It also worked well with 'Resize browser to fill screen'. What dimensions do you tend to choose when recording in Camtasia when you intend to put it into a 'No Sidebar' view in Articulate?

When using the no sidebar view I like to use a recording size of 980x560, as outlined by Gabe in this post: Stage/Slide size

I first saw this method used with the AO tutorials and really liked the way it used the available real estate.
