HI,
seems like when I try to save something in a different folder, I loose all of my audio that I recorded in articulate. Sort of scared of doing that, but I will try. That is one thing I haven't tried. I know that I tried to save the 2003 ppt in a 2007 format and then I had no connection to the audio. I was going to have re record the audio just for the 2007 ppt file, where as it was still there for the 2003 file. messy, don't have time to retalk all of that, that is why I like articulate. Saves me time, but I have spent hours trying to get this hyperlink + pre and post quiz options to work. Any help is great! ![]() |

When moving a presentation from one folder to another, when you have recorded audio inside of AP, you should always do a publish to project files and create a zip file of your course. Then open the zip file and put the content into a new folder on your PC.
If you just move the PPT, you'll lose the references to your recorded audio files, which are saved separately from the PPT in another folder beneath where your original PPT was saved.. Help?

Interesting.
I usually keep one folder that takes all of the AP publications/course and another where I put the PPT/course . I am not sure what it means to publish to project (? meaning according to what I need?) So you are saying I should take that zip file I make (I upload to the learning platform in zip) and move it to another file--there I get lost. I am not sure how that makes the audio more available. So am I moving the zip and PPT together to a new area? That is if I needed to do that? and thus retaining everything together. I once tried putting the ppt in the same file with the open published AP and lost audio that way too. I always would like to make a big folder for each AP and PPT that match to be in together, so I wouldn't have this big hunt. |

Hi,
Let me try again. There are many ways to work with Articulate products. A few recommendations first: 1) Always create your course on your PC. Don't save your PPT on a network drive. (For me, I have an Articulate Projects folder under My Documents. In this Articulate Projects folder, I create a new folder for each individual project and put all my work for that project there. Other people do different things.) 2) If you are publishing for the web or the LMS, the best way to do that is with your content on a web server. Either publish your content for viewing to your PC and then move everything to your server or publish via FTP direct to the server. 3) Once you create your PPT and add audio--don't move the PPT unless you have to. Leave it where it is. The audio that you added does not get recorded inside the PPT. It gets saved to another folder that Articulate Presenter (AP) creates to hold your source audio files (this folder is named narration and it is located in the same folder as your PPT. So if you just move your PPT to a new folder, you're not actually moving the sound files. you're just moving the PPT and, in doing so, the links to the sound files are broken and you "lose" your audio. If you need to move the PPT and you have sound files attached, then the ONLY way to do that is to publish as project files:
![]() This will create an archive (zip file) of your course. Assuming you have WinZip on your PC, then go to the folder on your PC that you published to. Double-click on the zip file. The zipfile will open up with all the files in your course. Select a new location on your PC to extract the files to (i.e., the new location for where you want your PPT and all other files to be). Open your new PPT. Your sound files will be there. Help?

thanks for the help. I have had Articulate for 2 years and am learning by making errors and searching the forums for help. I have really loved the power of articulate and quiz maker. I have taught online and now am just doing hybrid teaching. I can't really think of teaching without this software. I keep wondering how engage would make my life really easier....
I need to keep reading this site, am now have rss feed to my page that will help me keep up. Thanks again. |
