Default Forum Redesign - Kudos and Issue

HI, Gabe!

Congrats on the site and forums re-design. You must have done this on Friday-Saturday--the old "weekend implementation."

I like the new look, though I liked the old look also. Again, congrats--I know how much work such redesigns are.

Also like the way misspellings are now flagged like in Office products. Great for us quick, stumbling typists.

Two issues--when you click on "New Posts" or do a search on a forum, only one result appears in a nice table row with colored background and borders to guide your eyes. Anything else appears in a table but with no background or rules to guide your eyes. And the # of replies and # of views appears next to the thread title, which is confusing.

Can this be fixed? I'm assuming that you're still working out the little tweaks and bugs in the re-design?

Thanks!

- Gerry

And if you click on the top new post that seems to be formatted correctly and then click new post again, you then see the next post move up into the nicely formatted top table row.

And the last edited by date and time do not show.

Gee, I'll suppose we'll all have to get new avatars now . . .

Just another couple of issues,

The link from the automatically sent Articulate mail to the private messages forum didn't work for me and the Platinum support page is not linking correctly either.

Hi Gerry & Dave-

Thanks for the kind words, Gerry! Glad you like the new design. It's been a pretty significant effort -- especially since we moved the forums and all other support resources to our WWW server (notice no more forums.articulate.com, support.articulate.com, blog.articulate.com subdomains in URLs). And now you know why I haven't really been active in the forums much lately.

So yes, we know there are still some kinks to work out with the design, but thanks for letting us know. And keep it coming if you see anything else!

Dave- I've fixed the issues with the links in PM notification and platinum support. Both should be fine now. Thanks for the heads-up.

Any way to set hyperlinks to be a more prominent color when inserted as text in postings? Right now they don't really stand out at all and are easy to miss...

Good suggestion, Brian. Thanks! I've added it to the list.

Hi, Gabe!

Just be sure to give yourself a "barley pop" or some other "celebratory libation" of your chosing when you get through all this.

(Aren't implementations fun?)

Better yet, you get a Captain Smiley!!!!

Best!

- Gerry

I'd also like to extend a congratulations to the Articulate web dev team for a beautiful template and integration redesign -- excellent work.

You'll notice some more fixes implemented, Gerry:
  • Links in posts stand out more
  • "Last edited..." shows date and time again
  • Searches and "new posts" searches once again show result counts
  • And more
