Default Some ways to break the "Corporate Slide" mentality...

I do not believe that "Corporate eLearning" has to look like the "Corporate PowerPoint" template - and spend a lot of time convincing my clients that there are other/(better?) ways. This is not just in the "linear vs. non-linear" debate, but in the way slides look and feel.

I see corporate presentations as "Core" and "Supporting" slides, and it's on the supporting slides that changes can often be made.

Here are some thoughts on ways that I have tried to do this, most are real examples, but I think there's a lot more that can be done within eLearning in terms of e.g. Wordle wordclouds.

Hope you find this useful.
Bruce

Awesome - I feel like I just sat in on a 5-minute learning conference:-)

Great point at 2:00 re: challenging course takers and learning vs realignment.

Thanks for sharing that, Bruce! You make a good point that often SMEs/stakeholders are willing to consider different slide designs if they see some great examples of how powerful that can be. And lots of times their standard corporate PowerPoint templates can be retooled to be better suited for elearning. For example, you can free up slide real estate by moving a corporate logo off the slide itself and into the logo panel of the Presenter player... or, you can get away with using some different colors on your slide (that are still complementary to the client's corporate color scheme of course), but still keep the branded feel by customizing the player colors to match the corporate palette.

Great screencast, and thanks again for sharing.

Hi, Bruce!

Let me add my thanks to this.

We preach pretty much the same here. Use the corporate PPT templates as a starting point and then veer off for what you need. Like use the title slide to first start off "looking corporate" and then go off creatively for the learning goal.

And let me add a request.

We have our company's Articulate user group meeting this week. I'd like to play this Screenr back to our developers. Any problem with that?

Thanks!

THANKS, Bruce! Guess I'll have to send you that "nice shrubbery" now.

Of course, Austin, Minnesota is about 50 miles south of me. That's where Hormel makes Spam. Maybe I should send you a case of that?

SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM . . .

I have a feeling that I'm going to be "moderating" this forum thread a lot today. In fact, I just had to approve Gerry's "gem" of a response above...nothing like setting the spam filter on fire with SPAM SPAM SPAM!
