I would like a screencast that demonstrates how to record a skype conference call using Audacity. I could then use that audio for elearning courses.

I still think there is a contest to be had with creating screencasts.

Greg, what kind of contest do you envision?

Would it be something like we prepare the same assets and content and participants would create the lesson in their own style and voice?

Would be something like most innovative use of screencasting tools?

What are some of the criteria you're looking to evaluate?

I think it's a great idea and it would surely help all of us understand more about how our screencasts are perceived by others.

Tell me more!

I'm interested in theme design and establishing coherent and appealing designs that *appropriately* support the learning content.

I want to create elearning that doesn't look like "normal elearning". Most of my work is for smaller clients who want to stand out from others but don't have a big budget.

A couple of thoughts. Contest could be:

1) best demonstration of using an Articulate product feature.

2) look at this end effect and then create a screencast that shows how it was made. This is similar to Tom's idea of finding an animation and trying to recreate it with PowerPoint and what I was doing with the game show spinner.

3) build a set of tutorials around a certain topic. Engaging SMEs is a pretty frequent theme on the forums. How about a series of screencasts on different ways to engage SMEs

4) Provide a theme - elearning in the next decade - with some simple criteria and see what the community produces.

Criteria to evaluate - under 5 minutes, elegance of presentation, clarity of a learning objective, meeting that objective, ...

Will keep stewing on this.

Greg - interesting idea for SMEs.

I can see both a technical track as well as softskill track using Screenr. I'm digging that! Who says screencasts have to be technical demonstrations? No reason they couldn't be virtual presentations using PowerPoint or a tablet PC.

Awesome!
