There are a ton of great resources out there for elearning developers... blogs, videos, forums, tutorials, websites, Twitter feeds ...
What tools or strategies are you using to stay on top of it all? Do you keep track of your favorite resources by using a bookmarking tool? RSS reader? We can probably learn a lot from each other by sharing tips & strategies. What are yours? Last edited by Jeanette : 09-30-2009 at 01:40 PM. |

At a previous place, I used Diigo. One of the problems with many corporate intranet sites is that the organization of the content rarely makes sense. That's where the personal tagging comes in handy. You cna use a social bookmark tool like Diigo to do your tagging and customize your search process.
I got my team to use Diigo as well and it was easy to share info and sites. Security's not an issue because if you don't have access to the network, the bookmark is irrelevant. |

I use Diigo as well to keep track of bookmarks, because they can be accessed from anywhere and shared with others. Diigo also includes useful highlighting and annotation tools.
For RSS and social networking (Twitter, Facebook, etc), I use the Flock browser (built on the Firefox framework), so I can access everything from one tool. |

I use delicious to organize the 'helpful stuff' I find online and think it is a wonderful way of saving the info I find online.
Here are my 'elearning' bookmarks: mfubib's elearning Bookmarks on Delicious My 'articulate' bookmarks: mfubib's articulate Bookmarks on Delicious and some of the sites (and tools, eg spezify) I use in finding 'assets' for my elearning projects: mfubib's assets Bookmarks on Delicious Many people I know (predominately working in education sectors) swear by diigo however I haven't tried it myself as I am pretty devoted to delicious ![]() |

Hi everybody,
May I please express my appreciation to all of you for this thread? It's truly outstanding. As a novice to the latest approaches to elearning, I am so happy that I am beginning my adventure on such a well-paved path. Great job David and Jeanette! And to Tom, for his Screenr input, and those members who so generously contributed suggestions and examples, I am also deeply grateful. Why am I going on like this? You have provided guidance on one of my most worrisome concerns. THERE'S JUST TOO MUCH STUFF OUT THERE! So easy for a newcomer to feel overwhelmed by all the resources, experts, tools, and the speed/volume at which it (they) all comes (come) at you. So, as I try to develop my training skills beyond the traditional classroom with elearning and social networking, owing to your tips, I am beginning FIRST ... with simply .... trying to get organized. (Of course, by introducing Diigo, Delicious, and so on), you've also given me more to study ... even before I actually create anything with Art Studio! LOL But, that's OK. Happy New Year from an appreciative member. Neal D. Ps. I am--at the same time--starting up with both Twitter and Facebook accounts. Already well over 100 employeess are now in touch with me via Facebook. Geologists. Petroleum engineers. Technical professional admin types. A demanding throng. (Wait till they figure out that I want to do more than chit chat and swap images.) Whew! No rest for the wicked, and onward through the fog. |
