I am getting really frustrated. I am creating a single answer MC question in quizmaker. What I am *trying to do is resize the highlight text box options for each of the answer choice options. I click on the box, manually set the size settings (e.g. 30 x 90), and just when I think it has been set, if I do something (not sure what the trigger is yet), like go to another box and try to reset it's size, then the previous box jumps back to its original size.
I have attempted to do this through 1) the height and width boxes at the top of the ribbon (with the aspect ratio lock turned off) , 2) through the right click, format shape option, and 3) through the right click and size and position options. After changing the size to where I want it, I have also tried locking the aspect ratio so that it is more *difficult* for me to do whatever it is I am doing to trigger the random changes back in size. Is there a way that I can "lock" a size so that it does not move, or reset the default size settings? I am trying to get the radio buttons to fit over a graphic so that it looks right, and am having an awful time. I make the changes, and random text box choices change back..there is no rhyme or reason to this at all. |

Hi lamma,
Okay, first let me say I'm sorry this is not working as you expected. The highlight can be quirky. Have you tried setting the text box so it isn't auto-resized? That's the first thing I'll do when resizing the text box.

Yes, I figured that one out early on. So there is no way to lock the size?

Hi lamma - well, I'm not sure why it's resetting. Are you only using the radio buttons or radio buttons with text?
One trick is to separate the text from the radio button and set the rollover that way. Here's a tutorial that includes that process: Creating the Question Slide - E-Learning Heroes But you probably shouldn't have to go through that to get the rollover to remain fixed. I'm trying to get mine to resize and just not seeing it. Any way you can share that quiz with us?

The other problem that I am having is that all of the text gets switched around to it's assigned radio button.
For example, I have 7 different answer choices as options. I have labelled them with the text as A-G, to correspond with the view assignments for the text boxes, just so that I can get the placement right and keep everything straight. I placed them in their spots on top of the graphics. In the slide view, everything stays the same, the text A is where I have placed it, the text B is where I have placed it, etc. When I go to the form view, the text has switched around. So the very first answer choice, which I named in text as A to correspond with the form, now says "E". This is problematic because I need to branch to different slides based on the answer choice. I can't do this if things just randomly move around. If this is a glitch in the system, then I need to know so that I can design around it. Thanks for your help and quick reply. I appreciate all of the support from Articulate, nobody else compares! |

Are your text choices part of the radio buttons? or do you have the text separate from radio buttons? If it's separate, you'll want to disable Shuffle from the answers.
Can you post a screenshot of the quiz you're working on? Maybe one view in Form view and the other in Slide view?

Yes, where would you like for me to upload the quiz? Let me get screen shots as well and put them up on my website.

Cool. If you zip it and it's under 2mbs, you can attach here in the forums. Or if you have something like Dropbox you can put it in your public folder and send the link.
Or you can email me at: danderson@articulate.com Whatever's easiest for you works for me:-)

So Ive done some additional playing around, and I figured out the switching of text and alphabet position in the form view. I guess placement of the textbox has something to do with how it is moved around within the form (the top to bottom, right to left placement dictates which category box the text ends up in, but text always stays with same radio button. I can work around that. I thought the branching was linked to the alphabet categories in the form, but it is linked to the radio and text.
