Default Inserting swf video file

Hi,
No problem inserting a small swf video file (910 KB) in Presenter. However, in QM and/or Engage, no way. Had to re-boot the computer.

Hi guido - were you able to successfully insert the video after rebooting?

That's not typical so if you continue experiencing problems, let us know.

Was there anything unusual about the .swf file (lots of code? layers? levels and movie clips?)

Was this the only time you experienced anything like that?

David

Hi David,
I'm a new user of Articulate, and was exploring applications (following tutorials - all very didactic and usefull, by the way. Good work!).
I captured a few screen actions with JING, and downoladed a simple swf movie file.
As I said, no problem inserting it in Presenter.
However, both in QM and Engage the computer blocks out and I have to reboot. No change after rebooting. Same problem repeats.
Should I try to convert the file to flv using Encoder or some other application?
Many thanks

Okay, that helps and thank you for following up with the type of .swf file.

Jing swfs probably have some additional code that's conflicting with Quizmaker. I noticed the same behavior after trying a quick Jing screencast. Because the screencast has additional functionality like a scrubber, volume and so on, it's likely part of that is causing the conflict.

Video Encoder isn't able to convert .swf to .flv. Do you have any options for saving Jing to other formats (mp4, flv, etc?) I know Camtasia, for example, exports mp4s and flvs.

Quizmaker and Engage will process normal .swf files but any files that reference the _root or _level0 often cause issues.

Do you have access to any other screencapture tools?

Right!
I inserted a swf (2.9 MB) captured with Allcapture and it worked OK in all three applications. So the Jing file is the problem.
I suppose Screenr should be Ok also (does it generate swf or flv directly?).
Many thanks.

Screenr generates MP4 files that you can include in your Articulate projects:

Techsmith (maker of Jing, Camtasia, SnagIt, etc) has a history of "interesting" Flash output. Flash SWFs from an earlier version of SnagIt had issues with AP5, corrupting resolution of the AP player. If I remember right, Articulate ended up having to alter their code so it would play right with TechSmith's sometimes convoluted Flash output.
