I like to give 10-question practice quizzes where the questions are chosen randomly from a database of over 100 questions each time a student takes a quiz. As far as I can tell, Quizmaker can create a 10-question quiz randomly chosen from the original set of 100 questions, but when published and uploaded, it will be the same 10-questions each time the student takes the quiz. Is that correct?
Is there any way for Quizmaker to present different questions each time the quiz is taken? Or do I have to create 10 or so separate 10-question quizzes to obtain a fair sampling of the original 100? Any help would be appreciated. |

I create 40 questions and then set the parameters to only draw 30 questions from that 40. They are also played randomly. The set of 40 do not sit on a server database though.

True, but the 30 you have then are only 30 of the 40. So why create 40? If you publish another quiz from that 40, it might be a different 30, but that's the only way for the questions to change every time a student takes the quiz...to republish it. That's what I mean...unless I am missing something.

You can create a quiz with 100 questions and only have 10 questions selected randomly. In the pooling and randomizing section of quiz info in quiz properties you should see where you can do this. The quiz will select 10 random questions out of the 100 questions. You shouldn't have to republish every time to see this.

Are you saying that the published quiz on my web site will draw from the 100 questions? I don't think that is what happens but if so, then I am satisfied...if the published quiz selects 10 random questions from the 100 and then uses those 10 questions ONLY on the published quiz, then I am not happy about that!

That's not the way it's supposed to work. It won't select the same 10 questions over and over. It will select a random 10 questions from your pool of 100 questions each time you take the quiz.

I have a pool of 25 questions and have the Quizmaker set for a 10 question test. Each time the test is taken it randomizes the questions from the pool it has to draw from. Works for me, you shouldn't have any problems.

I need something similar. I know how to do the random pool, but I need to randomize, but the last question always needs to be the choice of:
"I don't know" Is this possible to make random, but always have one choice that is last, AND be "I don't know"? |
