I am publishing a Quizmaker '09 quiz to SumTotal 7.6 (SCORM 1.2 format) and want to track the quiz results. Everything works fine, but the Question Text (a SumTotal fieldname) is not being populated in SumTotal.
SumTotal support states that the cmi.interactions.n.description value must be populated with the question text in order for this to be seen. Does an Articulate SCORM 1.2 file populate the cmi.interactions.n.description value when tracking quiz results? Many thanks, Mark |

Yes. You can generate a debug to see what data is sent to your LMS by following the steps outlined here:
Enable LMS debug - Articulate Quizmaker ‘09 Knowledge Base

You might want to send us that .QUIZ file so we can take a closer look. I would also test the quiz in Test Track:

Question from my ignorance
--Is recording of the question text supported in the SCORM 1.2 standard? We only use AICC for now and recording of question text in not supported with that standard, though our Saba system supports it as a Saba-added field outside the AICC spec when you use Saba Publisher (re-branded version of Lectora).

Gerry, Good point! Not being SCORM compliant myself, I have gone to a source that will be able to answer this question. Turns out that Lectora does not transfer this field either for us. My guess is that you are correct, this is not supported in SCORM 1.2... I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks, Mark |

Yeah, Gerry is right. He is a smart guy. cmi.interactions.n.description is a SCORM 2004 thing, not a SCORM 1.2 thing. This is one of th big weaknesses of SCORM 1.2.

P.S. Mark, is using SCORM 2004 an option that you can go with?

Some days you get lucky--but, as I've said before, it's getting tougher having a 64K mind in 4 GIG of RAM world.

dmozealous, et al,
Thanks for doing my homework for me guys. I eventually found the same, i.e., cmi.interactions.n.description is supported in 2004 and not 1.2. Now it's up to the vendors to see if this is supported in practice.... Double duh, I found that TotalLMS can eat 2004 courses! Weehoo. The Question Text field is not being captured with a SCORM 2004 file in TotalLMS 7.6. Let me continue with SumTotal Support and see what they can offer. Thanks again, more if I find it. Mark |
