I selected "Retro" as a Theme for a Quiz, then tried to change to another Theme (like Satin, or Space, etc.). The colors change, or one theme layers on top of the existing one, but cannot get the Retro Theme (looks like checkers, or a huge plate of sushi) to simply go away. I can click "Hide Background Graphics" to remove it, but that still doesn't let me replace the Retro Theme with some other theme. For example, I can click on "Satin," then click to un-Hide the Background Graphics, and the Retro Theme graphics re-appear instead of the Satin Theme. Cannot get rid of Retro as a Theme in order to replace it with some other. Any idea what gives?

Hi,
I encountered the very same problem this weekend. Thought that pressing the clear background would work, but it didn't, so I would curious to know what the solution to the problem would be. Joe |

Hmm, looks like a bug to me so far
. Don't believe it was like this before in one of the earlier releases.Anyone using an earlier version of QM09 than the latest update 4. Can you test it?

Update: I was using a previous version of QM09 (v3.1.902.2005) when I tested this on my Vista PC and got the same result as the earlier posters.
However, on my work laptop with Update 4 (QM09 v3.1.903.321) and Vista, the changing of themes is working perfectly in QM09. No latent images from a previous applied theme remain. If you are using the same exact version of QM09, wonder if a complete uninstall and re-install would solve the problem?

Hi,
I have the latest release, so a re-install is probably what i would need to do. However, last time I got the latest update through the Articulate menu. How do i get the latest update if I unstall Articulate? (unlike past updates, I don't remember seeing the page where we could get the update). Joe |

Hey, Joe!
What I did was download the trial ( Articulate - Free Trials ), uninstall the Update 3 versions and then re-install. When I re-installed, the old serial numbers were "remembered" so re-activation was just a click. (I did that because it is "old habit" and because I was documenting for our people how to do a clean install of the software--we just started moving them to the 09 software yesterday.) I believe Articulate says you don't have to do what I did (i.e., completely uninstall and re-install) and just do instead what you did to upgrade. But perhaps the normal updating sometimes has a problem and an uninstall/re-install is the way to go? ![]() Best!

One more update--just tried this technique on my PC that still had Update 3 on it. I uninstalled that and then installed Update 4.
This PC with the latest QM09 still has the problem! ![]() So I have a Vista laptop where changing of themes works perfectly and a Vista desktop where it does not and exhibits the behavior described earlier. Go figure. Definitely an issue Articulate needs to investigate why it works on some PCs and not others.

I believe I am using the latest update of QM (903.321). In fact, I only updated it a couple of weeks ago. I use it on a desktop with IE6 and Windows 2003. I also discovered that it's not just the "Retro" Theme that won't go away, but just about any Theme that you select once. Guess I'll just have to remember that for the future and either avoid the Themes, or make sure I pick one and stick with it.
