cmi.suspend_data.viewed - passing too many characters

If you are using a quiz in Presenter make sure you update all of your quizzes using the latest version of Quizmaker. All you have to do is click Edit in Quizmaker and then do a Save and Return to Presenter. This will update your quizzes which will update the suspend_data sent by the quiz. I think that might be the issue you are experiencing with the number of characters. So rather than undo the prompt to resume I would try that first.

I thought I had done that, but I will try again and be sure that I update *all* of the quizzes. I think there are three or four different quiz sections spread throughout the slide set.
