Question Captivate .swf in Presenter only plays audio

Hi all,

I'm stumped! I scoured the forum to find a solution but it doesn't appear that anyone has run into the same problem.

I inserted a Captivate .swf (about 9mb) using the 'flash movie' option. In preview I could only hear the audio; same thing when I published the file. From reading the forum it appears that others have successfully inserted Captivate .swfs right into Presenter (i.e., not Engage). Is it possible? If so, any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I'm using AP09, PP07 on a Vista Premium OS. Note that I am currently using the trial version of AP09 as I'm trying to decide if it's going to be worth the investment (we use AP5.2 at work but have no need to add Captivate files at this point). One of my major 'needs' is to be able to weave Captivate .swfs into Presenter to give my designs the look and feel that I'm aiming for.

Any light shed would be greatly appreciated.

Hi cstargio. If I was to guess, your version of Flash Player is older than the version of movie you published in Captivate. If you haven't already, I would first try updating to the latest Flash Player.

HTH,
Phil

OMG! Whenever I ask a question is seems like the answer was starring me in the face the whole time! Thanks so much! My technical skills are still in the germination phase, one day I hope to figure these things out on my own.

It's now working. One other question, when I play the .swf the outer corners of the original file are missing. Is there a way to resize this in Articulate? When I double click on the slide that contains the .swf my Microsoft Visual Basic opens and I have no idea how to reset any parameters in MVB.

Thanks,
Cyndi

You can resize the area for the SWF within powerpoint and it should carry over to Articulate.

I noticed that when I added a video to PP, it dropped in a big white box onto the slide. I had to resize that box in order for the video to not be cut off in Articulate.

Question Re: Captivate .swf in Presenter only plays audio

I had this issue that the captivate movie does not appear but only plays audio. I tried the solution given here. I have Flash Player 10 on my system and published the captivate movie which had only options Flasy 7, 8, and 9. So i selected Flash 9 and published. However, it still dint work. Any idea where I am going wrong? A quick reply will be highly appreciated as I have missed several deadlines due to this issue.
Regards,
Nanda
