Well, this was a bust. I downloaded and ran the new updater. It scanned my folders and found 0 files that needed updating; I know this isn't so. Then it did something that screwed up my ftp connection. Now I can't connect to my site either with the updater or with my ftp client (from any computer.)

Tom, do you know what version of Presenter was used to create these? I'm assuming Presenter 5 but wanted to ask anyways. When I run the updater on my Presenter 4 content I get the same "0 files needing updating" message.

I found on the Adobe site an uninstaller, and then an archived version of Player 9. When downloading 9, a zip file unzips to a whole bunch of files, and I, Novice, and some of my students, can't figure out what to do.

I tried a .exe file for Windows, but it didn't work.

Can someone here give exact instructions for reverting to Player 9, after using the uninstall tool to get rid of 10, then rebooting. We've done all that, and still can't get 9 to load.

I am happily downloading your Articulate Version 9 programs, and look forward to not having this problem in the future. Right?
Judy,

Do your students have Firefox installed? If so, there's an extension for Firefox that allows a user to change the version of Flash in real time. Here's the link: Firefox extensions - Flash Switcher - sephiroth.it

Essentially, it will allow your students to switch from Flash Player 10 to Flash Player 9 very easily. I would recommend that.

Also, according to Adobe, you can only remove Flash player via a special uninstaller...here's the link: How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control

You should be able to have your student uninstall Flash with that program. Then, simply have them install Flash Player 9 again.

What are typing in for the "server" box in the Articulate Updater? Are you typing "ftp.yoursite.com"? If so, I'd try "yoursite.com". Also, verify the port number (usually 21).

beeneeb, thank you very much for your quick response.

We have been using that uninstaller, and it gets rid of 10 easily, and leaving nothing in its place. When trying to access one my Presenter modules, they then get a message saying "download plugin," and it is, of course, Player 10.

I think the Firefox Flash Switcher might be the ticket. I'll try it.

Thanks again. I'll report back!

Good news: The updater now does all of the following:
  • Updates Presenter 5 stealthray.swf files to support Flash Player 10
  • Updates Presenter 4 stealthray.swf files to support Flash Player 10
  • Updates player.html to support IE8 for Web Objects
  • Updates player.html in the Presenter install folder
  • Makes backups of updated files (<file>_backup.<extension>)
Please visit the Knowledge Base to download the new version.

After uninstalling the Flash Player 10, you just need to go to the link below to download Flash Player 9:

Macromedia Flash Player - OldVersion.com

Good luck!

Great news!

Hate to be a pain, but what if some of my old Presenter modules were created in Version 2 or 3? Some are a couple of years old.

Can I tell what version was used to create them?
