Do you have this updated file somewhere else? The link in your post no longer works. Thanks! |

HI Phil-
I have another question related to this preloader. We are creating mini-modules that do not use the logo panel and navigation interface on the classes. However, we are still having latency issues with the imported .swf files. Can I still tie files to the logo? If I choose a logo when publishing my Articulate file, will it load it, even if it is set to not display on the Template settings? If not, do you have any suggestions as to where I can tie the files to preload them? Thanks! |

The nice thing about the logo panel is that the preloader is always running--allowing the ActionScript to do its magic until all the files have been preloaded. Also it's relatively easy to implement. Unfortunately, in my tests, you need the logo panel turned on for the "logo file" to work.
With no logo, it makes it a little trickier. One thing off the top of my head that should work is to create a custom master slide--replacing the "bgsm1.swf" file after publishing with a Flash file that contains the desired ActionScript. As long as you're not switching master slides through your course, you should be able to accomplish the same functionality--as the preloader will always be there. Here's a thread that discusses how to create custom master slides. Another possible option: If you have a few non-Flash slides in the beginning and are a decent duration, you can insert a transparent preloader Flash file on these slides. Now you mentioned you are creating mini modules...what kind of duration are looking at? Keep in mind that the preloader will need some time to do its thing in the background. I usually put a couple of light slides (no Flash) in the beginning, which buys the time needed by the preloader. Hope this helps. Once again, please let me know your outcome or if you have any questions. Phil Last edited by Spectre : 11-05-2008 at 09:48 PM. |

Hello;
I hope that you can give me some information. I downloaded your file. The code seems easy enough to point at the correct file. I do not have experience with flash. I was wondering if you could tell me how to insert my logo so that it shows up as a static image. I use Adobe Flash CS4. and the Logo is 330X121.

I have a talking head in the left panel in my presentation that was taking too long to load from the server. The preloader worked great - thanks! All that's left now is a quick bright green flash between slides (the "Loading" image). Is there anyway to change the color of that to a dull grey or something so that it isn't so obvious? I know, give them an inch...
Thanks in advance. |

Hi Spectre,
Vertical Moon has an turn-key Preloader caller "Lock and Load" where you can identity (browse and select) the SWF you want to pre-load using a standard UI. The current version does not allow FLV to preloaded however this maybe of use for those seeking to preload an SWF. Cheers Gazzzz |

I was testing Lock and Load from Vertical Moon. Once I export my preloader in a SWF file... What do I do whit it? Where do I put it? It must be in the logo panel too?
Thanks. |

Without ever using Lock and Load myself, perhaps you can embed Lock and Load's output file into the player.html file (making the embedded SWF as small as possible or perhaps transparent). This way, the preloader is always running. Anyway, just a thought...
