Hello, I created some interactive training for a client using presenter, engage, quizmaker, etc. The files all run perfectly on desktop, on his server, but when we moved the folder into his Sharepoint space (where we currently store a full blown html website in one space) he got the error message "Cannot create or replace [folder]. The parameter is incorrect."
His IT person does not appear to be interested in looking into it from the SharePoint side, so I'm stuck...Anyone have a suggestion about what to do since he's a client? No control over IT on this end... Thanks!! |

Just curious--and an obvious question (forgive me)--no separate content server available to use? Launch the content via a link on the SharePoint site?

Thanks much. In the end yesterday that is what we ended up doing. Ultimately, I do need to figure out how to get it into the folder on SharePoint where we store his small employee website where the company goes to get all the HR information he puts out. But, I'm learning ... it is a hassle to do this when you are not working directly for or with a client IT group.

Janet,
I've published several presentations to SharePoint. I create separate folders for each presentation and then open the folder in Explorer mode (Actions>Open with Windows Explorer). It can take a while to open...then you locate the files on your machine and drag the player.html and the two folders (player and data) into the target folder. To actually use it, I first create a links list specifically for the Articulate presentations. Then I copy the short cut for the player.html file (right click on the icon and pick copy short cut). Then I paste the short cut as a new link on my list. The articulate presentation opens in the same window (depending on how you have your browser configured). Good Luck! |

I am also trying to copy the launcher.html and player.html files from one folder on my desktop (the launcher works fine) to a sharepoint folder, but I am getting the "Cannot copy launcher; The parameter is incorrect" error. I articulated the file myself and it is working perfectly on my desktop. Only problem is that it will not let me copy the launcher.html file!
The other part of this is that my coworker articulated the PPT presentation, then was able to copy the files to the sharepoint server. But then when i go to the server, I see empty folders and no launcher or player html files. Any ideas why this is happening? |

You should be able to use Articulate published content with your Sharepoint server. You will need to switch to "Explorer View" in Sharepoint before uploading your published output as explained in this forum post:
Help with publishing to a company intranet

Thanks for your idea Justin, but I did go to explorer view in sharepoint. It would not let me paste it in. It would paste all the files but when it got to launcher.html it gave me that parameter message I stated above. I also tried to open the Sharepoint site via a mapped drive - I am usually able to cut and paste files in this way, but it did not work. I got the same parameter error. Has anyone gotten this parameter error? Basically it is not letting me paste in the launcher.html file.
The other weird thing is that the person who posted the files can see the fiels and lauch the launcher without a problem - on the sharepoint server. He was able to cut and paste the files. He sees them, but no one else can?! It is very weird. |

I'm not clear on when you are receiving this error? Could you take a screenshot and share that with us?

Maryann,
There are a couple of things you might try. What I do is create a folder in SharePoint for the presentation. I click on the folder to open it, then switch to “Open with Windows Explorer”. It takes a while but it will open in a new window. It will be empty. Click on the “Folders” icon on the Toolbar to display the folders list from SharePoint in the left hand column. If you scroll to the top of that list, you’ll find your computer listed. Find the folder where you published your presentation, select the contents of the folder (most likely launcher.html, player.html, Player Folder and Data Folder). Drag them to the destination folder and they should copy over. It will take a while… I’ve never had luck with pasting, only dragging in SharePoint. To use the presentation, I create a Link in SharePoint. For the address, I right click on the player.html file, select “copy shortcut” and paste that. When the user clicks on the link, the presentation will open in the same window. You could probably do the same thing with the launcher.html file although I’ve not published any content that way. Second, you might try changing the settings for the Player Template so that the presentation is not launched in a new window. You'd have to republish the presentation, delete all the files and folders from SharePoint associated with that presentation and upload the new stuff. (I've had the most luck with deleting files from within the document folder rather than deleting anything via the Explorer View.) In regards to the other issue that one person can see the files and no one else can, I would wonder if you have the same level of permissions that he does…I would think that would be the cause. Another thing to look at is whether you’re looking at the same folders. Ask him to copy the shortcut for the player file and email it to you. You might be looking at a folder you emptied content from rather than the folders and files he created… Let me know if you have other questions or would like any screen caps. I’m happy to help! um, your problem is that you have non alpha numeric characters in your course file name, or folder name.
% or - or * or $ or anything will not fly in sharepoint. and that's the error you'll get. Rename it, and re-publish, then go again, and it will work. G |
