Has anyone else had issues running Articulate courses in their LMS with certain Java versions? I have found that the following Java versions prohibit Articulate courses from loading in our LMS - 1.5.0_12 , 1.6.0_05 , 1.6.0_06. I'm sure there are probably others, but these are the versions I have come across so far.
At first, I assumed that this is an LMS issue, but found that courses created in other authoring tools, are still able to launch and track when using the above listed Java versions. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris |

AP courses by themselves do not need Java. They depend mainly on Javascript and HACP to communicate to an LMS. They don't use Java to talk to the LMS.
The LMS does add hassles sometimes. Do your courses launch in a frame from the LMS that might be Java-dependent? BTW--we have found that courses that can use Java to talk to the LMS (e.g. Lectora) to be very problematic. We've stopped recommending that developers use Java in their courses to talk to our LMS. We never discovered the issue. Even Lectora recommended to us to start using its new Javascript method and avoid their Java applets for LMS communication.

To add to Gerry's point, some LMS's (and some Java-dependent apps for that matter) can be quite finnicky about the Java version being used.
At our company (using Docent), I understand that there has generally been no problem running Articulate content on the LMS. The only problems that occur are due to an incompatibility between the LMS and the Java version installed on the user's machine. In other words, Articulate is not dependent on Java. HTH, Phil |
