Default Embedded SWF file throwing off slide timing

I'm currently working on a course and one slide has a short swf movie (no audio on the flash movie, only picture) embedded on it that pertains to the contents of that particular slide.

The swf file is only about 30 seconds long, but the slide along with the narration and text animations is approximately 1 minute and 14 seconds long. The problem is that when the swf movie completes playing the scrub bar has reached the end and the narration just cuts off. The slide seems to be getting its timing from the flash movie instead of from the audio file.

Settings for the Flash Movie Wizard are: Play Flash movie and slide in sync; move to next slide when user clicks next; Buffer 10 seconds of movie before playing.

Any idea how I can cure this so when the flash movie ends the audio and slide animations continue running? The movie is not essential, but it does make the point of the slide in a visual way.

Thanks.

Are you short movie inserted in the main timeline or inserted inside a movie clip?

In the main timeline. Should I put it into a movie clip? (I will try that anyway pending a reply! )

No.. the best practice is in the main movie. Did you checked your frame rate? Is it 30fps?
