Default "Please view all items on this slide to continue" - I did, I did!

I have published a presentation with an engage interaction. There are 10 tabs in the interaction slide. After I watch the 10th tab, it won't progress to the next slide and says to view all items. This is blocking the presentation from continuing. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hello AMT,

Do you have the properties of the interaction in Presenter set to allow the user to leave the interaction at anytime? or advance to the next slide at any time?

I have it restricted. However, the slide did finish and I didn't try to jump out of it. Basically, the slide was finished but I couldn't get out of there and i had to exit the course.

Out of curiosity, what playback mode do you have set for the Engage interaction: Presentation, Linear? And I assume the Slide Properties Manager is set to advance the slide automatically?

Thanks,
Sarah

We're having the same problem. Here are the parameters we're using:

PRESENTER
Navigation is restricted
Slide properties set to automatically advance
no audio in any engage interactions

ENGAGE
FAQ interaction type
user can leave interaction anytime
user can view in any order (not linear). presentation does not advance by itself

I've changed ALL parameters in the engage interaction. I've changed all possibilities on the slide properties manager. I've adjusted the timeline in several ways. The presentation won't allow an exit from the engage interaction. I've tested several different parameters and also read the advice in another thread to have a final tab that has no audio, but my interactions don't have any audio to begin with. I went to the timeline, removed all the blank space for the engage slides, but this didn't help at all.

Is there a different interaction type that won't do this? Is it impossible to use Engage when navigation is restricted?

We also have experienced this problem. It seems to be intermittent and not cause problems for all users. Sometimes, when the eLearning is closed and opened back up - you resume where you left off - the problem will have cleared up. Other times it doesn't and we have to reset the user so they start over. We ussually have the engage situations set up so the user can go through in any order and does not automatically advance.

Thanks,

Karen - I'm curious... what do you mean by you have to reset the user? How do you do that?

Hi AMT,

Do you have any audio in your tenth final step? If so, that could well be blocking the exit to the next slide. The workaround is to either remove the audio from that final step or to add another step without audio.

I cannot reproduce Annette's issue so it might be an idea, Annette, to submit a case and we'll ask you to upload your project files. I must be doing something wrong although I did follow your specs to the letter. My presentation moves on fine by itself.

Regards

Me too,

This is intermittent and causing me a huge problem. My client wants the presentation restricted. I am using engage media tour with one flv video per engage slide. most of the time it works fine but occasionally it will not allow the user to advance even when the movie/slide is at an end. That of course kills the tutorial. and the user goes away frustrated.

This is an intermittent ongoing problem that happens frequently but is difficult to reproduce.

As an update to our situation,

I tested all parameters and unfortunately, could not solve the problem. It doesn't seem to be an intermittent problem but a persistent problem. But I'll still submit a case to articulate.com. Meanwhile, because i have to get the modules out, I changed the interaction style to work around this issue.

Engage Parameters:
I changed to a TAB interaction and set the engage parameters as follows:
User must progress in linear order
User can leave interaction at any time (they're still locked into viewing all the steps by the Presenter parameters)

Presenter is still set to restricted.

For one engage interaction that was optional viewing, i inserted a final tab called EXIT, so that the user could just skip to this last tab to get the timeline to advance to the end of the slide and then advance.
Parameters on this interaction: User can progress in any order
User can leave interaction at any time

Dunno if that helps anyone, but it is a temp workaround that I can live with,

Cheers,

annette
