Hi folks,
I am working on a Presenter presentation where one slide of the PowerPoint series brings in 4 arrows, one at a time to point out specific areas of the slide. There is currently no audio involved with the animation sequence. I am not using any triggers, I am simply using a Wipe In when the mouse is clicked and a Fade Out when the mouse is clicked a second time. This animation sequence works like a champ if I play it in PowerPoint (Click, display arrow, click, disappear -- for all 4 arrows) yet when I publish it in Presenter, the animations appear to be ignored and the slide progresses through the animation sequence of all 4 arrows automatically after waiting 5 seconds between each arrow animation step. I am using PowerPoint 2003 and Presenter 5.2.131. I have tried tweaking the Slide Properties Manager (tried both User advance and Automatic) and the Library and Options settings for Timing with no success. I have seen other posts mentioning to duplicate the master slide numerous times and then add each animation step accordingly but this is a standard PowerPoint mouse-click advance and should be supported within Presenter. I would hate to add additional slides as a workaround just to get this animation to play. Has anyone else experienced this strangeness? Any ideas? Thanks! Alan |

Hi!
In PowerPoint > Articulate > Library and Options and then the "Other" tab, what are your Timing settings? ![]()

Hi Gerry,
Thanks for the reply! My settings are exactly what you show on your screen shot. I have tried everything I can think of and am baffled why this simple animation doesn't work. So far, all I have is the course title slide followed by the slide I described with the animation. These slides are currently set to "By User" in the Move to Next Slide option in the Slide Properties Manager. I have a few other bogus slides following the slide with animation also set to advance "By User" and they all work just fine when published. I'm confused! Thanks! Alan |

On click animations are not supported in Presenter. The section in Presenter that Gerry pointed out shows you where the timing is coming from for those animations. On click animations will display automatically after x number of seconds. You might want to take a look at this blog article:
To Click or Not to Click? On click animations are typically used in Presenter to sync your animations with recorded or imported audio. If you aren't using either then you may want to consider using with or after previous animations. Automatically or By User in the Slide Properties Manager controls whether the slide advances automatically or by user, it has no impact on your animations.

Hi Justin,
Thanks for the info! I was under the impression that simple On Click animations were supported just not Clicks based on triggers. It makes sense what you described (and also the info in the blog) but I'm thinking (and I'm probably not alone) that this might be an excellent enhancement to Presenter since there are times when you do not want the slides to advance until the user is absolutely ready...even if they contain animation. Learned something new today, thanks! :-) Alan |

You can control how the slide advances via the Slide Properties Manager. For the situation you describe, you would choose to advance "By User" instead of "Automatically," but this is specific to slide navigation (not for navigation through the animations on a given slide). I hope that helps. Sarah

Hi Guru2be,
I know this is an ancient post, but I'm wondering what workarounds you've devised for dealing with the navigation toolbar page counter? do you just use your own custom navigation within the ppt slide? Or, do you go to full-screen so the learner doesn't get bothered by the counting of the hidden pages on the toolbar? |

Hello All:
I have a presentation (PowerPoint 2007) with animations that run in loop and in sequence. They translate into Presenter ('09, most-current release); but the looping animations play only one time, then stop. I want them to continue to loop as long as the slide is active in the player. How do I get this to happen? Is this a setting in PowerPoint I need to change; or is it a setting in Presenter? Thanks in advance for any pointers. Kind regards, Jess G. |

Repeats are not supported in Presenter. You would just need to duplicate the animation for the number of times you want it to repeat.
