Why don't you export the Powerpoint slides as graphics at 640x480, then import the slides as images into Camtasia, and record audio within Camtasia?

I agree with you 100% that if you can record at a size that will not require scaling the movie it will produce the best results in the end, and hopefully no trails! This is a best practice we share. If I can see what you are recording I might have some suggestions...

Camtasia allows you to set customized settings as well. Perhaps you should do a custom setting first and see what happens? Unfortunately, I've found that you have to play around with things a few times before it becomes "perfect." I do know that I have recorded things in Camtasia at 800x600 and 720x640. They work great in Presenter when brought in as a flash movie.

I record mine at 980 x 560
Then have them view at full screen in articulate works like a gem |

I made a few tests... any record I made in Camtasia that goes into AP, if the sidebar view is enabled, I get the trailling problem. If the no sidebar view is selected, no trailling. But I WANT the sidebar to show!!! I tried everything, including recording in Camtasia at 640x480. If the sidebar view is enabled, there are the trailings. This is getting me crazy! Any ideas???

The issue you are experiencing is that in Sidebar view the slide area is off by a couple of pixels which is causing the issue so the only workarounds are:
1) Use No Sidebar view. 2) Insert the Flash movie so it opens in a new window.

Small artifacts are left trailing the cursor as it moves across the screen. They eventually clear up but it still doesn't look extremely professional.

Here's what I've done in some of my demos on the blog.
I change my screen resolution to 800x600 and then record my capture. The screen looks bad and fuzzy...don't worry. When you're done, change the resolution back to normal. The capture will look nice and crisp. Insert the swf into the slide (I prefer to set that slide to no sidebar, but that's me). Here's an example of what it looks like at 800x600 in the slide. |

Tom - the demo looks great! I had seen your presentation before but didn't know the behind the scenes info...
Quick question, when you published your recording did you publish it at the full recording size (800x600) or did you scale it down some before importing into Presenter?
