I am considering buying Articulate, and I am a Camtasia v5 user. A major new feature of Camtasia v5 is ExpressShow output, which produces a single self-contained swf file.
I would be interested in seeing how Camtasia v5 integrates into Presenter and/or Engage. Richard |

Hi bdusablon,
The demo I put up at the top of this thread is actually on the Articulate LMS, Articulate Online so you should be able to put it on an LMS. You do need to manually insert the files in the right place in your zipped folder before uploading it. Regarding Richard's Camtasia 5 question, there is an issue with the ExpressShow output because Camtasia actually adds a frame (or two) to the beginning of the output to give the "YouTube" style play button and when this is imported into Articulate Presenter, it causes the video not to play the first time. The answer is to publish to Legacy SWF form in Camtasia. Regards

Hey daveperso,
Thanks for the excellent guide. In your media tour example how do you make the captions field disappear? Thanks again for the help Best regards Rob |

Hey daveperso,
Thanks again for the help. But unfortunately if I add more than two slides with captivate 3 movies, the third movie in the third slide doesn't work. And then all of a sudden the first movie and the second movie only works if you skip forward a couple of frames. It doesnt work properly. Have you experienced any this? Anyone else? One more thing if I publish not for the web but for the LMS option all the engage interactions disappear. This is not so good. Daveperso have you tried to publish to the LMS with engage interactions in an Articulate presenter production? Thanks for the help daveperso. Cheers /Rob |

Hi Rob,
Regarding the captions in the Media Tour, just make sure there is no text in the captions section in Engage (there is some text like "Place your captions here" by default). That way, the caption box will disappear. Re publishing to LMS, the example I gave at the top of this thread shows Engage in Presenter on Articulate Online which is an LMS. So it should be possible to publish to LMS. I shall try to publish to another LMS to make double-sure. I have not experienced the issue you are getting when having three Engage Captivate slides in a row. Have you tried changing the third Captivate slide to check if it is not that which is causing the issue? When I have a second, I'll give it a try myself. Regards

Hi Dave,
What you say works perfectly when it is just one captivate project... I have several captivates projects and in every directory I have a file called standard.js and I don't know how to change its name so it is overwritten when I copy everything from the captivate folders to the Engage_content folder... any idea? Thanks, Mirna |

I use Cap3 and I just purchased Articulate, so I'm still familiarizing myself with it. Is there a workaround for the fact that Articulate can only support one .swf at a time. The reason I ask is because I created an interaction in Cap3, which shows the user 4 pictures and they have to choose which ones belong. When they click on an item a small .swf of an star plays to note that item has been selected. When pulling this interaction in as an .swf, of course it does not work. When publishing it to web and pulling it in as a web object, it works but there is a sizing issue with the browser. If I leave it at the current size the user has to scroll to see the full picture, which is not user friendly and is disjointed from the rest of the project. If I resize the object in Articulate, it takes up too much real estate and the user does not have access to the forward button to continue the project. Any ideas...

Thanks for all the great information posted here!
I'm using Office 2007 with Articulate Presenter, and I tried importing Flash files from both Captivate 1 and Captivate 3 (including the single-swf-file trick mentioned earlier). In the resulting movie, the Flash file opens just fine for others, but when I run the movie, the Flash file tries to open but all I get is a blank screen with the word Zoom in the title bar. Any idea what might be causing that? Thanks! |

This is probably due to viewing the content on your local drive because of browser or Flash player security. If you are planning on hosting the content online or in an LMS I would suggest testing this feature where you plan on hosting the content to see if it works there.

Hi, Justin, thanks for your post.
I thought of that and now test everything directly on the server. Others can view it, but I can't. (I get the behavior I described above, where the movie tries to open but all I get is a blank screen with "Zoom" in the title bar.) Thanks for your help, Rosie |
