Hello,
I would like to know if there's away to create a player tab (like Exit & Attachments) that when clicked will take you to a particular slide number. Any ideas? Thanks, Erika |

Hi Erika.
Though you can change the tab names by adjusting your player template, the tabs really aren't set up to accommodate links to slides. Generally the easiest way to allow users to jump to a different slide is by adding an object (such as a button shape) to your slide, and applying a PowerPoint hyperlink to it, so that it takes the user to the slide you want. The PowerPoint hyperlink will function just fine when you publish. Or you can direct users to click on specific slides in the outline tab (in the navigation panel of your sidebar). The sidebar appears at the left edge of your presentation if you're using the Standard View Mode. Another possibility I've seen is to add a slide's swf as an attachment, though this might not suit your needs. You'd choose Articulate > Attachments and set it up as a link such as data\swf\slideX.swf, where X is the slide number you're linking to. However, this opens the slide's swf in a separate window, so that might not be a good solution for your situation. Would a hyperlink applied via PowerPoint work for you? |

Hi Jeanette,
Thanks for your response! Right now I am using a PowerPoint image hyperlinked to the slide. It works ok but it would have been nice to keep it clean looking and move it up to the top. But if that's what I have to do that will work. I am currently not showing a side navigation because I wanted to simplfy it as much as possible -- the eLearning is around our company's strategic roadmap and the map itself is so busy that I wanted to keep it clean looking. Yeah, I don't think it would be good to have this open in a new window but that's an option too. Thanks again! Erika |

No problem! One more idea that might or might not suit you ... maybe at the beginning you could instruct users to click on the view-mode toggle button whenever they want to jump to a different slide - that way they can pop up the sidebar and click on it only if they need to. And you could set each slide's view as Slide Only (or No Sidebar) in the slide properties manager... to ensure that each slide always starts out on that view unless/until the user toggles the view mode.
Just a thought. ![]() |

It could be done using the SDK.
Basicly you would create a small flash file with the code to jump to which ever slide you want. Then add it to the tab bar using the instructions in the SDK. Most swfs that folks add to that bar have some code in them to move them onto the screen when they are activated. But in your case it would just make the jump when activated. I think I could whip up something for you in the next day or two... Last edited by this.onEnterFrame : 10-21-2009 at 02:48 PM. |
