Default 'New' Java Plug-in prevents content from running

When we run the 1.6.0_11 'Next Generation' plug-in from Sun, the content for our Articulate Presenter 9.0 modules stops running. Is anyone else seeing this issue? We can disable the 'Next Generation' plug-in and, instead, use the classic plug-in but, we require the 'New' plug-in for other apps. Can anyone helpme?

Articulate content does not use the Java Runtime Environment. If you are using an LMS that requires Java Runtime Environment I would suggest you contact them.

After upgrading to JRE 1.6.0_12, we continue to see this problem. Ok, so you don't use the plug-in but, you are running Javascript, correct? Specifically, when the Player.HTML loads, we receive a javascript error 'Object Expected' with the following portion of code:
<script LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
<!--
// Change the BgColor
SetBgColor ( g_strBgColor) ;
//-->
</script>

The Player.HTML file was created with Presenter 5, I am running Windows 2000 with IE6 SP1. As long as Debugging is enabled within IE, we see the error. If debugging is disabled, the user sees nothing (blank screen) and seemingly freezes IE. Where is the SetBgColor function that is being called?

I saw one other brief post from a user asking if the new Presenter fixed his JRE 1.6.0 'blank-screen' issue so, perhaps I'm not the only one seeing this. Thanks for any help that you can provide

You might want to see if using an older version of Java Runtime Environment works as expected.

We are having the same problem, when we publish an articulate course for an LMS, but specifically with IE6 and the New Java Plugin, if anyone has a solution besides downgrading Java, please post. Thanks!

Hey Mindy,

What build of Presenter are you using? If you are on anything other than Presenter V6.1.903.321 you should try upgrading to the latest build using Check for Updates in the Help menu.

Unfortunately there was an issue/bug with Java 1.6.0_11 that causes some of JS files to load out of sync. We have addressed this issue in the V6.1.903.321 build of Presenter.

Hi Dave,
I am using 5.3, powerpoint 2007.
The problem only occurs using IE6, strange. Works on firefox and the other versions of IE, but just not IE6.

Hello All: I have an issue with the Preview function in Presenter '09 (V. 6.1.903.321. Pro) that I have just noticed today. This is the first time I have tried to preview a course since installing the most-recent update to JAVA (Sun), Build 1.6.0_12-b04. When I click to View Presentation, IE launche (V. 7.0.6001.18000), but the screen remains blank. The error code in the bottom left-hand corner tray in IE reads, in part, "Error: 'g_bAPIPresent' is undefined."

Has anyone else experienced this issue? The new JAVA update is very current--it just came out this week.

Kind regards,
JAG

We tried downgrading our version of Java from 12 to 10, with the same results. If anyone out there has Presenter 5.3 and a version of Java that they know works, please share. We have hundreds of courses, and to have to upgrade to the new presenter, and reconvert each course, load and test is very time consuming, and NOT a good solution for our company at this time.

Thanks,
Mindy
