Friends,
I just uploaded my first (of 7) monster unit 347 Megs to my trial AOL site. It has embedded video and Engage Interactions which in turn have embedded videos. The issue I just experienced is that none of the FLVs embedded inside the Hotspot Engage interactions made it up. So when I launch a presentation in AOL and get to page with an Engage interaction and then click a marker on the page the video on the interaction comes up blank. The videos embedded directly onto PPT pages deliver quickly and render fine What can be done to remedy this? is this a ......bug?.... Last edited by YakovW : 06-30-2009 at 04:17 PM. |

Hi!
Were you able to inspect the content folders on AOL or did you just the videos play as blank? If blank, one thought is if the AOL servers are set up with the right MIME type to support delivery of FLVs? FLV does not playback when deployed on a server - Articulate Presenter ‘09 Knowledge Base

Gerry,
Thanks for the "stab" at it (watch that sword). AOL is Articulate On-Line (of course) so they for sure are configured for embedded videos. The videos on the Presentation pages play correctly and so to SOME on the videos in the Engage interactation - but most come up blank. I opened a support case. Lets see what happens. The curious thing is that the videos play fine when published to a local web site |

Here's what I was able to figure out (but still no solution and am waiting for an explanation / fix). The videos are there but take up to 3 minutes to appear!
On each marker page there is an embedded video explaining and demonstrating that gui element. When the page loads, the marker hosting bigger videos have blank white frames. If I sit on the page and wait or close it and come back multiple times - in about three minutes what was formerly a white frame becomes filled with a video!!! There is some issue with not all the videos being sent down with the page when it initially loads. Anyone experience something like this? Is there a work around? A learner will abandon this key page if the find empty interactions! Last edited by YakovW : 07-02-2009 at 08:44 PM. |

Camtasia --> .AVI --> Articulate encoder --> FLV As far a progressively download, first I'm hearing of that, I'll look into it now... to see if its a production option....Don't see such an option on the Camtasia production dialogs nor do I see one in the Articulate encoder -- Where would one set a 'progressive download' option pray tell? Thanks Last edited by YakovW : 07-02-2009 at 09:49 PM. |
