Question Sync Animations - SmartArt & Graphics

Hello,
I am using Articulate 09 with PPT 2007 and am having a difficult time Syncing smartart and graphics.

I am completing the slide, click on Articulate, click on Sync animations.

Everything seems to work until I publish it and then some of the timings on some of the slides don't work at all or the timing is off.

Thank you for any help you can offer.
Jennie

Hi Jennie,

Do you by chance have any empty text boxes with your SmartArt? I know that can cause some problems.

If you do have text in text boxes, make sure to type it out for each text box. Copy/paste can also cause some problems. By typing each text box out you'll create unique text.

I hope that helps but let us know if the problem persists.

I am also having this issue, only a little differently. I am using SmartArt that is connected with arrows (also coming from SmartArt). I am able to use the Sync Animation tool to bring in the arrows and boxes - the sync seems to work until I publish it. When I publish it, the arrows all appear on the screen at once and prior to all of the boxes, instead of appearing in the order that I assigned them.

Any thoughts?

Thanks much!

Thanks Justin - I just uploaded the file. The slides with the arrow issues are 10, 11 and 13.

Thanks!

My experience is that most animated SmartArt just doesn't work in Presenter at all -- there seems to be no way to predict what will and won't work that I have found -- it is hit and miss.

I have to ungroup all the parts and animate the pieces separately to get any semblance of working.

Hi Angie,

I took a look at your file and I believe the issue is that Smart Art that contains arrows that connect separate objects appears to not translate properly when animated by object rather than all at once. I did note that animating all at once does work. Brian's suggestion about ungrouping and then animating separately would be a feasible workaround for you.

I'll report this to the Quality Assurance team so we have a record of the issue and I'll be sure to get a Knowledge Base article created for people who experience this issue in the future.

Thanks Brian and Justin!

I'll ungroup them and re-animate. Should work just fine

We have confirmed this issue and found that Cycle type SmartArt is affected by this. As noted by Justin, ungrouping the SmartArt and animating the individual elements is the only workaround at this time. Our QA team is looking into this further.

Was there ever any resolution to this issue? I tried un-grouping and now I get double the text off centered.
