Wanted to share some sample files to demonstrate how we created the Engage slides in the Christian Aid course. We'll have future tutorials with the actual course files but for now, hopefully these samples will help answer some questions on the techniques used.
Example here: Using Communication Tools at Christian Aid (Select Technology Overview to view Engage slides) The key is to rename your published Engage interactions using the prefix "fm_" and then copying/pasting those files inside your data\swf\ folder in your published course. Here's a screencast on the process: Source files: http://is.gd/c4GtJ[/url] Let us know if you have any questions on the process. Also, please share your examples using this technique. It's fun with a lot of creative possibilities! Update: Here's the link to the icon navigation thread. It covers creating bottom navigation elements to load your Engage slides. Hands-On: Creating Branching Scenarios Origins: Wanted to share Dave's post on this process. This will hopefully give you even more background and info on where the idea came from. Hello Dave:
Thanks for your demo. I regret that I am still having trouble. Can you help me clarify a few things? 1 - The swf file that I bring into presenter is the engage.swf file. Once it is positioned, I publish the ppt file. Should I actually be importing the fm_engage.swf file into presenter? 2 - Do I rename the existing engage_content folder that resides in the published folder to fm_engage_content or is it necessary to bring in the engage_content folder from the published engage output? Sorry for the confusion. Alex |

Hi Again Dave:
One other item: In your demo you click on the player.html file to show the updated presentation. Should I be able to see the updated content when I do a preview from within presenter? Thanks again. Alex |

Hello Dave:
Just a quick recap: I can get the player.html file to show the updated material but when I view it in Presenter preview it still just shows the video loader. Thanks and Regards Alex |

Hello Dave:
Me again. Can you tell me how you called the enage/swf files from the menu page in the Christain Aid module? Is there just the one main menu page or do the icon menu choices appear on separate slides for each engage/swf file? Thanks again. Alex |

Hello Dave:
Please ignore that last request. I found your four-part tutorial on creating icon based navigation. Regards Alex |

Hi Alex -

You'll need to Publish each time, copy over the files, and launch player.html to test. |

Ah, Cool! Glad to hear it's working. It's a bit of a workaround but it does give you a lot of new and creative ways to use Engage.
I hope you'll share your examples back with the community (if you can!) |
