Gerry, it's hard to say without knowing specifically what the alleged problem was with the Java install.

I certainly don't think it's a problem with Java in general—in my experience Java technology (and the Sun plug-in specifically) is extremely robust.

Having said that, specific courses or authoring tools might have known issues with certain Java versions. If you haven't done so already, you might want to check with the outside vendors and Trivantis specifically which Java versions they support.
