At DevLearn last month, one of the questions I was asked a number of times was, “How does Articulate Presenter address section 508 accessibility requirements?”
I’m pleased to present this customer spotlight from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, which does an excellent job demonstrating a couple of the ways your content can meet 508 compliance — by adding a text transcript and a map of keyboard shortcuts. Take a look at the Accessibility link in the upper-right corner (this is a custom version of the Attachments feature). Not only that, but it’s a visually stunning and culturally interesting presentation.
Christopher Blaire Bundy, Team Lead, Teaching and Consulting Group with DoIT, Academic Technology, writes,
“This lecture is used as an introduction to the oral traditions of African Storytellers. Harold Scheub, University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Professor of African Languages and Literature, spent about ten years beginning in the late 1960s walking up and down the coastline of South Africa collecting research, interviews, images and movies of African storytellers. Professor Scheub provides historical context and commentary along with beautiful images of South Africa to create a very captivating presentation.”

“Articulate Presenter was used to synchronize images, narration and text transcripts into a compelling presentation,” Chris continues. “Articulate was selected for this presentation for its ease of use, cross-platform/browser delivery capabilities and elegant user interface.“

Thank you, Chris, Professor Scheub, and UWM for sharing this work of art!

We are currently using Articulate to develop a range of e-learning programmes for a charity. Accessibility is a big issue for them of course and they are very ‘anti-Flash’. Is it possible to use Keyboard Shortcuts when using Quizmaster and Engage interactions?
