Everyone loves a good movie — the story, the characters, the people. And we all like to learn from other people, not only from text. I suspect this is why so many of our customers are interested in Articulate Presenter‘s ability to insert a “talking head” movie (Presenter Video) into their training content — it adds a personal element that reinforces the training material, while adding that personal touch to the content.

Articulate customer Don Jones of ScriptingAnswers.com has provided what is among the best example of a talking head presenter video that we’ve come across to date. He writes,

“After spending a LOT of time looking for a solution offering more flexibility than plain video and less complication than a do-it-yourself Flash experience, I found myself delighted with Presenter’s feature set.

“It offers a variety of media, a cross-platform and self-contained presentation (including attachments, video, audio, animation, and the whole deal),” Don continues. “By working right within PowerPoint, I didn’t have to learn a new authoring environment, which made authoring and production much faster. After extensive research and evaluation, this is honestly the most complete, easiest to use e-learning solution available. “

On a related note, as customers who frequent the Articulate Community Forums no doubt know, my colleague Dave Mozealous, Articulate Quality Assurance Engineer, has prepared a great presentation that illustrates the various ways you can integrate Flash movies (.SWF and .FLV) into your Articulate-powered content.

Thanks to both Don and Dave for creating and sharing these excellent examples of how to make a good movie — Articulate style!

This was an excellent example of Articulate in action. I have not seen a better example of talking head video and it has given me soome great ideas. Thanks for sharing.

This is a good example of when to use a talking head effectively…and when not to use it. I also loved Don’s tone and manner. Outstanding!

Nice work but way too long a wait for the talking head. It is engaging but not worth the wait when a still and a voice over would accomplish the same task-transmission of information. The talking head seems a bit indulgent considering the download time.
