Bored with bullet points? Try turning that stale bullet list into an engaging accordion-style interaction in Articulate Storyline. It’s a great way for learners to explore processes, sequences, and relationships. Check out this example:

You can download a free widescreen accordion template for Storyline here. It includes several variations of the accordion interaction demonstrated above. Just select the slide(s) you want to use, and then add your own content. You can even customize it with a different color scheme. Here’s a short video that shows you how:

Want to build your own accordion interaction? Easy. Here’s how:

  1. Use Storyline’s shape tools to create the tabs for your accordion interaction. We used a basic rectangle shape, but any rectangle option will work. Try using snipped or rounded corners for added flair.
  2. Add a new slide or layer to hold the content for each tab in your interaction. If you plan to use Storyline’s built-in Prev and Next buttons for navigation, create separate slides for each tab. If not, use layers.
  3. Add a trigger to each tab that jumps to the corresponding content slide or layer.
  4. Add a fade transition to each slide or layer to make your accordion interaction move smoothly from one tab to another.

That’s it! If you need help or ideas to get you started, visit the Articulate Storyline forum at E-Learning Heroes to connect with other Storyline users.
