Articulate Presenter & Office 2007

Update (August 1, 2007): We now support Vista & PowerPoint 2007. Learn more.

logooffice.gif Microsoft just released to manufacturing (RTM) Office 2007, which includes PowerPoint 2007 and is expected to be available to the general public at the end of January 2007.

How does this release impact Articulate Presenter?

The short answer is that the Articulate Presenter System Requirements have not changed. We still recommend that you use — and will only support — PowerPoint 2000, PowerPoint 2002 (PowerPoint XP), or PowerPoint 2003.

We expect to support PowerPoint 2007 and Vista no later than the end of Q1 2007, following the January 2007 general public release date of Office 2007.

We’re a fast-paced software company and pride ourselves at being on the cutting edge of technology, and the release of Office 2007 doesn’t change that. Our product development team has been hard at work for months already thoroughly testing the compatibility of Articulate Presenter with beta releases of Office 2007.

We will do our best to communicate with all of you — here on the Word of Mouth Blog, in our Community Forums, and via email update notifications to all licensees — when we do officially begin supporting Office 2007.

In the meantime, using Presenter with PowerPoint 2007 or Vista is not recommended, but you may be able to use it to some degree. We’ve heard reports of varying success. If you do decide to use Presenter in PowerPoint 2007, look for it under the new Add-Ins tab of the Ribbon.

Stay tuned. And if you have any specific questions about this announcement, please leave a comment here or submit a support case.

Are there any updates on intended release? I was keen to buy AP as we are now using Vista based laptops.

Francis- This post still represents the latest info we’ve publicized about Vista & Office 2007. Our products don’t yet support Vista & Office 2007, but we’re working hard to get there.

When will there be a fix for Articulate and Windows Vista/Office 2007?

Alan Allery  |  Posted at 10:45 am on April 2nd, 2007 |  #

Hi Alan- I updated the top of this post on Friday. Here’s the latest: We have release candidates that support Vista / PowerPoint 2007 just about ready to go for Presenter, Quizmaker, and Engage. If you’d like to help us verify these releases before the official production releases are available, please send me an email, and you’ll receive information on how to participate in this testing. The official production releases will be available soon after this testing period.

Greetings,

I would be happy to be a tester of the new version of Articulate Presenter that supports Office 2007. I have been waiting for this release and I am immediately buying this product once it is ready for purchase.

Thank you,

Greetings all, I have used the test release version to sucessfully create a first run through on the presentation. I have had a couple of snags but will wait further testing to determine if it was environment variables that may have been the conflict.
Seems great so far! Thanks Gabe.

I am having steady crashes with the Synch Animation Timings function. Can someone in support help investigate?

James Jowers  |  Posted at 12:15 pm on May 18th, 2007 |  #

We’d be happy to assist you, James. Could you please submit a support case and provide as much detail as possible? Or, if you’re using the beta releases as part of the Vista/Office 2007 testing, you can direct your details to the Vista/Office 2007 beta forum.

I just purchased Engage and installed it using Vista. It loads fine, have not used it much yet, but will do so later.

I then downloaded quiz maker and presenter. I installed them, but they don’t boot up. Is there a compatibility problem in Vista for these 2 applications at this time? If so, what is the target date for a compatible release. Or is it an issue only with the trial versions of these programs. Please advise.

Thanks.

Hi Jose- As noted at the top of this entry, our software that supports Vista is currently in public beta. You can register to participate here.

The trial versions of our products do not yet support Vista/Office 2007.

Hi. I am really keen to use your product for the trail period (and beyond) but I have run into problems on my Vista Machine which runs Office 2007 Ultimate. It there a patch that will get me going now? It appears that I have run into errors that will prevent me from accesing my trial. Your thoughts?

Thanks,

Scott

I see the previous post now and it appears that I need a username to access the beta test. Don’t have one and don’t know where to get one (or if I have on already). when will the beta become a non-beta? We need your software! Thanks.

Please email your response to me. I don’t want to have to come and find this message board (nor do I know if I can even find it again).

Thanks.

I’ve submitted a case on your behalf, Scott. We’re in the home stretch of the Vista-compatible beta now.

Hello! I am about to upgrade to Office 2007, including PPT but I don’t want to lose my Articulate application. I hate to wait, though. Can I get some kind of assurance that if I do upgrade to Office 2007, I won’t have to repurchase Articulate? Thanks!

Bill Getch  |  Posted at 05:07 pm on October 11th, 2007 |  #

Hi Bill-

This is not a problem. Just follow the directions in this blog entry about how to upgrade and you won’t have to repurchase Articulate Presenter.

Hi,
I have big problem with an installation on Vista and powerpoin 2007. When I´m recording it seems that articulate sets the sound quality to minimum 10 kbps ( 8 bit, 11 khz, mono) and you all know that sounds baaad. I really want a quick solution to this major problem.

I’m curious to find out if you are still on track for a release of a Vista-compatible version of your products by end of this month.

Tim Schultz  |  Posted at 02:26 pm on January 22nd, 2008 |  #

Hi Tim- Yes, as noted in the “Update (August 1, 2007)” at the top of this blog entry, we’ve supported Vista and PowerPoint 2007 since last year. You can learn more here.

Do I need a new version of Atriculate to work with Office2007? I just upgrade office and cannot see the Articulate function.

Karl Pelletier  |  Posted at 01:02 pm on February 11th, 2008 |  #

You should be running ver 5.3 for PowerPoint 2007. Since 2007 uses the ribbon toolbar, your Articulate menu should be in the Add-Ins tab.

tom  |  Posted at 09:05 pm on February 11th, 2008 |  #

We have a client who is producing their content in PPT 2007, and using SmartArt a fair bit. I would love to have the chance to participate in any type of Beta of Presenter to support this. We would share our results, and the client is a Provincial Licensing Body who may provide feedback or a testimnonial.

Greetings,
I am trying to work with Articulate Presenter on Vista with 2007 PowerPoint and cannot see the AP icon in the ribbon. When I try add ins I keep getting:
The Connected State of Office Add-ins Registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Cannot Be Changed

I tried running as admin in the Ppt app file to add teh ribbon but then Ppt won’t open at all and the MS diagnostic starts running. HAs anyong else experienced this issue. COuld really use help here as I can’t run Articualte Presenter at all.
